McCann Colombia Wins at Cannes for “Bullet Pen” Work

In March, a peace treaty ended 40 years of war between the Colombian government and FARC (The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People's Army) — a war with six million killed or wounded. To commemorate this historic event as a step forward in rewriting Colombia’s future, McCann Worldgroup Colombia developed a concept for the Ministry of Education to recycle fired bullets into pens. Bullet Pens, or “Balígrafos” were then distributed to the country’s leadership as a potent symbol of the need to make education the most important priority in the country. McCann Colombia won three Cannes Lions for the campaign — 1 Gold and 2 Bronze. And the original Bullet Pen the agency created was used by Colombia's President Juan Manuel Santos to sign the official peace treaty in a ceremony seen around the world. Mr. Santos said: “Bullets wrote our past; Education will write our future.”
