McCann Düsseldorf launched “Last Call for Beauty,” a global campaign for Ocean us, an international foundation dedicated to the reconstruction of the world’s oceans. Initiative Germany is supporting with media and Weber Shandwick in Germany, the U.S. and the UK is handling PR.
The initiative kicked-off with a twelve-page photo series in Vogue Germany inspired by the variety of shapes and colors of coral. The layout showcases beautiful gowns with ocean-inspired looks, and as the pages progress, the visuals fade, representing the deteriorating state of coral and other ocean life. The campaign will also feature works of art from museums, publishers, social networks and schools, as well as an original song.
Jan-Philipp Jahn, CEO of McCann Germany said, “Our team threw themselves into the work for Ocean us with verve and strong ideas, because the topic of the ocean stirs primal emotions – so we can combine the good deed with creative passion and the joy of strategic insights.”
“The team at Ocean us quickly convinced us with their passion and determination to drive forward the reconstruction of coral and life in our oceans. And we are happy to be able to contribute a small part to this great mission by supporting Ocean us with an international PR strategy,” said Ilan Schäfer, CEO of Weber Shandwick Germany.
Ocean us was founded five years ago with the help of world-leading marine scientists and other experts. The foundation’s first project is “Global Coral Restoration” to prevent the predicted functional extinction of coral reefs and to restore nine million square meters of damaged reefs worldwide by 2030.
