GEICO and The Martin Agency released a series of spots in a nationwide campaign remixing the classic “Whoomp! (There It Is)” tune with Tag Team. The spot features the ‘90s hip-hop group serving ice cream in a random person’s kitchen while singing “Scoop! There It Is.” The campaign was an instant fan favorite, garnering over 13M YouTube views and a flurry of social media reenactments.
Based on demand, GEICO and Tag Team released a brand-new ice cream flavor, aptly named “Scoop! There It Is!,” which has a vanilla base with cookie dough, peanut butter swirl, and chocolate-covered marshmallows mixed in, all of which are mentioned in the spot’s lyrics. A pack of rainbow sprinkles comes separately, allowing people to either top their treat or throw the sprinkles in the air like DC Glenn of Tag Team did in the spot.
To create the ice cream, GEICO enlisted the help of Mikey Cole, revered founder and owner of Mikey Likes It Ice Cream, which is a Black-owned, NYC-based creamery with a core mission to give back to its community.
