MullenLowe U.S. and HeyMama, the nation’s largest and fastest-growing online community of entrepreneurial and working moms, launch MOMTERNSHIPS, a 10-week internship program designed to support moms who want to return to work. The first-of-its-kind initiative offers mentorship, coaching, networking, and on-the-job training.
MOMTERNSHIPS seeks to center the experiences of working mothers to address how they have been disproportionately impacted in the professional sphere. The COVID-19 pandemic in particular forced women to leave work at twice the rate of men. This loss of mothers in the paid workforce makes economies less competitive and families less prosperous, leading to worse outcomes for households over the long term. It also makes women less equal, less powerful, and often less fulfilled in their lives.
A MOMTERNSHIP offers a short-term professional opportunity for mothers who have stepped away from work to either reenter the workplace or reinvent themselves in new pursuits without requiring relevant work experience or an explanation of a woman’s gap on her resume.
