Senior Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer, IPG
Rick has extensive experience in Agency finance and operations. He has spent the bulk of his career building, managing and improving client-agency business relationships with some of the biggest marketers and agencies in the world.
In 2015 Rick created the Client Finance & Operations function at IPG, where he works with IPG’s senior management team and individual agency networks in structuring Open Architecture solutions for clients and prospects. His responsibilities also include negotiating client contracts and remuneration terms, managing client financial relationships, advising network leadership on client commercial engagement, and developing benchmarks and best practices across IPG.
Before moving into his current role Rick most recently was CFO of FCB North America, after leading Global Client Compensation & Contracts for McCann Worldgroup. Prior to IPG, Rick’s previous roles also include Global CFO of Euro RSCG Healthcare, and senior finance and corporate development roles at Young & Rubicam where he helped build a global client planning and management function. Rick is chair of the 4As Large Agency Finance Committee. He has developed and led numerous negotiation and client profitability training programs, and co-authored several AAAA publications on agency remuneration issues.
Before receiving his MBA in Finance and International Business from Columbia University, Rick worked in international banking for The Irving Trust Company in Germany and in the Middle East & Africa Division, specializing in trade finance and correspondent banking. He graduated from Williams College with a BA in history. Rick lives in Glen Ridge, New Jersey with his wife and two daughters.
