In IPG’s first major matching gift effort in more than a decade, the company provided matching funds for employee donations to the United Nations World Food Programme, which is providing food to people displaced or made homeless after the explosion there in August. Interpublic employees reached the $10,000 matching limit within hours, and have given $21,385, for a total of $31,385, with IPG’s contribution.
The explosion in Beirut led to more than 200 deaths and over 4,000 injuries. Several IPG employees were harmed, and the offices of two of our partner networks in Lebanon, Horizon and MCN, were affected. Many employee homes were damaged or destroyed, with a number left homeless; many in the region are lacking critical support.
Donations came from more than 50 agency employees as well as corporate, and from countries all over the world.
