IPG’s Black Employee Network (BEN) hosted a program, “How Black Talent Thrives: Historical Lessons Learned,” in honor of Black History Month. The program featured keynote speaker Dr. Laura Morgan Roberts, an innovative global scholar, speaker, and consultant on the science of maximizing human potential in diverse organizations and communities. Laura currently serves as Professor of Practice at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.

The conversation touched on several vital questions that will shape the future of work, such as: What can we learn from the path to the present state for Black Talent? Are we doing DEI for the right reasons? How is it that Black professionals do rise, thrive and manage to remain engaged and self-affirming? Might fatigue and backlash stifle commitments?

IPG’s Chandon Jones, SVP, US Ad Operations at Kinesso, Merlin Bass, VP, Tax Technical at IPG, Alicia Francis, SVP, Head of Strategic Initiatives at Weber Shandwick, and Heide Gardner, Global Culture Office at IPG, also spoke at the event.
