Interpublic Group elevates Jemma Gould to the newly created position of Chief Sustainability Officer where she will continue to spearhead the company’s global sustainability programs.

Leading IPG’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) programs since 2016, Jemma has purposefully developed strategies to reduce our environmental impact and advance our company’s mission and values. Working alongside the integrated ESG team, Jemma maintains a critical role in building out sustainable business practices for IPG, which includes setting climate targets, tracking energy usage, reducing our carbon footprint, and reporting publicly on our progress.

Under her thoughtful leadership, IPG has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) North America, which recognizes the top 20% of sustainability performers among the 600 largest U.S. and Canadian companies; and the FTSE4Good Index, which identifies companies that demonstrate ESG practices measured against international standards. Additionally, IPG became a founding member of AdGreen, an organization working to unite the advertising industry to eliminate the negative environmental impacts of our productions. Jemma also helped IPG become the first company in our space to meet new disclosure alignment with SASB and TCFD reporting frameworks and to receive limited assurance from a third party on our ESG reporting.

“Although this is a new position for our company, it is certainly not a new set of responsibilities for Jemma, who has overseen our company’s work in the ESG space for many years,” notes Tom Cunningham, SVP, Global Communications at IPG. “Her promotion is incredibly well-deserved and speaks to our commitment to embrace issues that are important not just to our people and our planet, but to our clients and shareholders as well.”
